Step 4 – Boot from Install DiskTurns out I don’t have an install disk handy, but I do have a USB flash drive. In Disk Utility, perform a disk repair of the Mac OS X volume. Once started, go to Disk Utility in the Utility menu Start up the Mac while holding down the “C” key Boot up in same version of the OS that you’re having the problem with if possible.
